Fishing in Botswana is seasonal, and thus, always advisable to check for fishing season to avoid disappointments. Fishing is available mostly in the Northern parts of Botswana, on the Chobe River, and the rivers and channels of the Okavango Delta. However, some of the dams in the Central, North-East and Southern districts allow fishing. All sport fishing is done so on a catch and release basis, with live or artificial bait. Most water-based safari lodges supply fishing gear, offering an exciting mix of game viewing and fishing activities.
