Botswana has rapidly developed to become one of the hottest golfing destinations in Southern Africa. Gaborone hosts two good golf courses set in a tranquil environment surrounded by more than 80 different bird species and various animals that make every round a pleasure. The two golf courses are Gaborone Golf Club, close to the old city centre, and Phakalane Golf Resort (located in Phakalane Golf Estate on the city's outskirts). The clubhouses at both courses enjoy active social calendars, with wonderfully relaxed atmospheres. Further afield, the Mowana Safari Resort & Spa in Kasane maintains a beautifully situated 9-hole golf course. The Chobe area is rich with abundant wildlife and birding, making a golfing activity a unique experience for the region's visitors. In addition to full-scale courses, Gaborone is also home to the Blue Tree Golf Centre, which hosts a driving range, pitch and putt, and conference/meeting facilities.
